Iquitos
Get to know the Amazon River, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World
Day 1: Iquitos
am. Transfer from Hotel to Lima Airport.
am. flight Lima/Iquitos.
Reception at the airport, brief orientation of the city on the way to the pier. Travel by boat 40 km down the Amazon River to the lodge, where air-conditioned rooms and private bathrooms with hot water will provide you with the comfort of home, in the middle of the Rain Forest. Afternoon walk around a beautiful primary forest formed by large trees, such as the giant Ceiba tree. After dinner you can listen to local music with guitar and flute at "El Tucán" Bar, or the guides are always ready to recount some of the many legends of the Amazon.

Day 2: Iquitos Lodge
Excursion very early in the morning to observe birds. After breakfast you will board the boats to travel down the Amazon River to the rustic Lodge and hike the "Bush Master Trail" where scientists from the Missouri Botanical Gardens have found the highest biodiversity per square hectare. Then they continue with a visit to a native Yaguas community, where your guide will explain about their culture and how it has been affected by the passage of time. There will be an opportunity to barter or buy some of the local handicrafts and to witness a demonstration of the use of the blowpipe that some of the old Yaguas still use in their hunting tasks. After lunch, there will be a walk along a local trail parallel to the Amazon River, to visit a house of the "ribereños" and the artisan mill with its respective rustic alembic for the manufacture of brandy. Return to the Lodge by boat.

Day 3: Monkey Island
Excursion very early in the morning to observe birds. Morning excursion to “Isla de los Monos”, a private reserve where more than five species of tropical primates including the woolly monkey, the pichico, tocón and the black huapo are being protected. During the afternoon there will be a boat excursion in search of sloths that are found in the tops of the Ceticos trees on the riverbank and the two species of freshwater dolphins, the pink and the gray, found in the Amazon River. If the weather allows it, you will enjoy a sunset from the Amazon River.

Day 4: Canopy Walkway
Departure very early in the morning from the Lodge by boat to the narrow path between the Napo River and the Amazon, which is crossed by motorcar and then continue the trip in another boat to the Lodge to have breakfast. Walk to the spectacular Hanging Bridge covering more than 500 meters (a third of a mile). These bridges are connected by platforms in the trees and reach a height of more than 35 meters (115 feet) but are accessible without any special equipment or skills. After lunch, you will visit the "ReNuPeRu" Botanical Ethnic Garden where more than 240 medicinal plants are cultivated by a local shaman who will explain the nature of the natural cures of the Amazon and the use of some of these plants. Return to the Lodge in time to enjoy the pool or the hammocks before dinner.

Day 5: Iquitos Lodge
Excursion on foot or by boat to appreciate more of the Amazon Jungle or free time to enjoy the facilities in the middle of the jungle. Return to Iquitos for your flight to Lima.
pm flight Iquitos/Lima.
pm arrival in Lima and transfer to the hotel.
